ABOUT OUR CLASSES

MIDDLE EASTERN DANCE & DRUMMING
BELLY DANCE - A western term for an Arabic style of dance developed in the Middle East. The dance has a long and often distorted history. Arabic Style Belly Dancing (Raks Sharki/Orientale Danse) is the educated dancer of the Middle East. Her background is in studying the history, culture and costuming of the Middle East. This also includes the local dances of many different areas as this dance form is a composite of all genres. She is the educated dancer. We offer the style of Egypt and Eastern Arabic countries like  Lebanon.

MIDDLE EASTERN DRUMMING - This is real Arabic drumming not a drum circle where everyone just plays. This is a place to learn the rhythms of Arabic music as played in the Middle East. Walid has played with most of the Arabic stars both singers and dancers in this country and abroad. 

SOCIAL DANCING

 SOCIAL DANCE  - A  major classification of dance forms and styles , where sociability  and socializing are the primary focuses of the dancing. Many are partner dances. Ballroom - Originated in the western world and enjoyed around the world. Includes Foxtrot, waltz and swing etc. Latin Mix -These dances are very popular at this time. They are usually quite rhythmic. Includes styles like salsa, cha-cha, tango, Meringue etc. Consists of  learning the basics of movement and timing. Beginner Ballroom - Consists of learning all of the different possibilities of movement on the dance floor. Posture, musical timing, foot positions and timing.

POLYNESIAN  

POLYNESIAN - Polynesian dance is intimately associated with language and poetry which it conveys in story telling. Polynesian dance forms dance has always been dynamic and changing. Includes Hawaii in the north and Samoa in the southwest  plus New Zealand etc.
Hula - If you have ever had affection for the Hawaiian Culture this is the dance form for you. Styles  and areas covered are Kahiko/Ancient Hula, implements and music, Auana/Modern Hula, Tahitian, Samoan, and Maori.

ANASURA INSPIRED YOGA

YOGA - ANASURA -  Inspired YOGA for all to be offered with you in mind. Open the body from the inside out using universal principles of alignment.  Open the hip and shoulder areas as well as core stability to enable fluidity in movement while building strength and stamina. Focus on flow with breath allows a a more inward focus on knowledge of our own being, both physical and spiritual. (Starting soon)

 The studio offers Belly Dance Classes - ME Dance 'N Tone for FUN, FITNESS  and the Professional Dancer. All levels are available.

• Introduction to Belly Dancing, includes basics of Movement, History, Videos, Costuming, Veil, etc.

• Technique for the Dancer, includes zill work.

• MEDancen'Tone includes exercise & dance (Dance for FUN & FITNESS.

• Choreography & notation for the dancer.

• Improvisation (putting that dance together).

• Folklore, including dances of the areas from the Middle East,
  Turkish Rom (Gypsy) & Zambra Morra (Spanish) plus line dancing
  as it relates to the Middle East.

• Drumming on derbecki, tar & tambourine for both drummers and dancers.

Percussion is offered on a private or class basis. This is offered for dancers, musicians or drum aficionados for all levels. Classes held weekly. We have a rental program for drums and tambourines in affect.
